Thank you for coming to Vancouver for the Theatre for Living training this August.

We've compiled this information to assist you with making arrangements for your stay. As Vancouver is a popular tourist destination, we advise you to confirm your accommodations as soon as possible.

Headlines has reserved 4 male dorm beds and 4 female dorm beds on a first come-first served basis at the Hostelling International Downtown (see more info below). Any unreserved beds will be released 14 days prior to the arrival date, so book early!

1. Hostelling International (HI) Downtown

The Hostelling International Downtown has shared rooms reserved under Headlines Theatre. This reservation will expire two weeks prior to the workshop (July 18, 2011).
A shared room holds four people.

To make a reservation, call Central Reservations at 1.866.762.4122 and ask for the Groups Reservation Agent, Alena Campbell, from Monday to Friday 9am-5pm (PST). When making the reservation, please inform her that you are with the Headlines Theatre workshop

The Hostel will ask you for a credit card number as a guarantee and you can pay on arrival. The rate is $30.64/night per bed before tax; the tax on the invoice is HST & Hotel tax.

Private rooms are also available and hold 1 to 2 people. All rooms share the bathrooms/kitchens/common leisure areas. The hostel is located near the beach and aquatic centre. It is approximately a 25min bus ride to the workshop space.

* Prices at all HI locations are subject to change without notice. Private room rates are based on single or double occupancy.

Please note that private rooms are available during the workshop period but must be reserved by mid-May, 2011.

2. Hostelling International Central

Hostelling International Central is centrally located on Granville St. in the heart of the entertainment district of downtown Vancouver. This hotel is close to bus routes to the workshop space, and there are many restaurants, shopping, pubs and clubs in the area. However, this part of Granville St. can get very loud on the weekends.

3. Hostelling International Jericho Beach

Hostelling International Jericho Beach is quiet and scenic, across the street from Jericho Beach. Located on Vancouver's west side, this hostel is approximately a 35min bus ride to the workshop space.

4. YWCA

The YWCA offers a variety of rooms from private with bath and TV to dormitory-style. All rooms have a fridge and telephone. Guests have free access to an off-premises gym and pool (15min walk). The YWCA is located just east of the downtown, approximately a 10min bus ride from the workshop space.

5. Shaughnessy Village

Shaughnessy Village is a bed-and-breakfast high-rise. The Studio room sleeps two and the Superior room sleeps up to four people (2 double beds). Each additional person costs $10/night above the listed rates. It has private bathrooms, TV, radio, balcony, fridge, microwave in each room and includes a free continental breakfast, and access to the lounge, gym, sauna, pool, steam spa, accu-massage bed, garden, mini golf. The bed and breakfast is approximately a 30min bus ride to the workshop space.

By Bus
There are three bus routes that stop at the corner of East Hastings and Hawks:
Eastbound (from downtown – Hastings @ Seymour):

Parking
The Ukrainian Hall does not offer parking, however, street parking is available since there is parking on both E. Pender St. and Hawks Ave.

* Please note that most major streets in Vancouver do not allow parking between 6:00am - 9:00am and 3:00pm - 6:00pm.
